Career highlights
Before opening the studio, Amandine and Cyril danced together in several companies. Here are a few excerpts from choreographies that marked their careers.
CAREER HIGHLIGHT
Steptext
by William Forsythe
Created for Aterballetto in 1985 · danced together at the Ballet de Lorraine from 2009 to 2011
We had already worked on this piece when we were dancing with Aterballetto, and then had the chance to dance it together again at the Ballet de Lorraine.
Always a challenge, in rehearsal as on stage: the bodies had to be pushed to the edge of breaking point and imbalance. Each venue brought its own difficulties: the lighting, the size of the stage, the wings, a raked stage, a slippery floor.
We have wonderful memories and emotions from it.
CAREER HIGHLIGHT
Vespro
by Mauro Bigonzetti
Created for New York City Ballet in 2002 · restaged for Aterballetto in 2003
This excerpt is the main pas de deux, which we performed in 2004: a key role and passage in the piece, set to a beautiful original score.
A rich and absorbing rehearsal period, a strong bond before going on stage and great emotion back in the wings. We loved the feeling of dancing this pas de deux.
CAREER HIGHLIGHT
Petrushka
by Michel Fokine
Created in 1911 for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, music by Stravinsky · restaged at the Ballet de Lorraine in 2008
We already knew the music, having danced a more modern version by Mauro Bigonzetti. Taking on these roles — the Ballerina for Amandine, the Moor for Cyril and Petrushka for Mickaël Conte — danced before us by so many stars, was a wonderful adventure.
A long preparation, from make-up to costumes, and a good dose of stage fright before the curtain went up: the choreography, precise, fast and musical, forgave no mistakes. All three of us loved dancing together.
